Welcome Parents!
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning needs.
The RTI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom.
Tier 2 students are students who generally fall 1-2 grade levels below. They meet 2-3 times a week with their intervention or Teacher. They progress monitor (take a short quiz) every other week. Tier 3 students are known as SST students, they generally fall 3 or more grade levels behind. They meet 3-4 times a week with their intervention provider. They progress monitor (take a short quiz) every week.
Students work with their intervention teacher Monday-Friday using iReady or other interventions during their iReady Block and Progress Monitor in FastBridge to assess the intervention (iReady, Repeated Reading, Get the Gist or CRA).
The Student Support Team (SST) consists of you (the parent or guardian), the intervention teacher, SST Chair, 504 Chair, Instructional Support Teacher and/or the school psychologist.Meetings usually last about 15 minutes. All SST meetings will be held via Microsoft Teams. Invites are a mailed home one week prior to the meeting.
Data drives the decision to move students up or down a tier. Tier 3 is the highest general education tier. A student would need at least 10 data points that demonstrate low-no improvement to be recommended by the SST team for Special Education evaluation.
